Ministry to Men Matters

by Rick Allen on May 20, 2026

We believe wholeheartedly that Ministry to Men Matters—because every man matters to his family, church, and community. Yet fewer than 10% of evangelical churches invest in a focused ministry to men, even though 100% of their men.

My prayer today is for that to change! It really needs to. According to a significant Barna study on men, faith, and the church, about 95 percent of men report having no close male friendships. That is a terrible way for a man to experience life—having no male friends.

Furthermore, Barna found that more than 90 percent of boys raised in church-going families will leave the faith by the age of 20. It's clear that regular church attendance, expert preaching, exciting youth ministry, and modern facilities are not even close to being enough to raise up Godly men in America.

The family unit and the teaching and training boys receive from fathers (and father figures) are perhaps even more important to a man's spiritual life. But what is the point if we aren't going to invest in discipling and helping the men we already have in our churches?

That's another big reason why Ministry to Men Matters! My good friend and 360Equip Director, Gordon Houston, has this to say.

"Men’s ministry is not optional—it’s essential. Without focused attention on men, churches risk losing the backbone of their families and communities. But here’s the good news: change is possible, and it starts with leaders who are willing to engage."

Gordon is right. We need church leaders to get in the game and step forward to begin ministering to their men. If your church does not have a thriving, effective ministry to men, then you need to contact Gordon. He will walk closely with you, your church leadership, and/or your men's team to address what needs to be addressed. And he'll do it for FREE. Yes, FREE.

360Equip is just one of the numerous ministry resources we provide to churches free of charge. This is important. It is critical to the future of millions of men, their families, and communities. Please engage with us. You may call the National Men's Ministries at 417.370.6280, email us at [email protected], or contact Gordon Houston directly.

Additionally, to help churches practically and for the long haul, we have created hundreds of free men's discipleship resources which are available on our website and the Men's Ministries app. These lessons cover Bible books, targeted issues, and marriage/family needs common to every men no matter who he is or what his level of spiritual maturity. I urge you to check these resources out and talk to us (if you need) about how to utilize them in a targeted, impactful ministry to men right where you live and worship.

Finally, each year we celebrate National Men’s Ministries Day on Father’s Day, which is June 21 this year. On this day, let’s honor not only fathers, but every godly man
who pours into our lives, attends our churches, and lives in our communities.
